I’d like to start off by saying hello to all! My first post on oppo here and it feels good.
I’m like most of you guys and tend to browse craigslist for that next project even if it’s not able to fit in my garage. As per usual, I’m not exactly looking for anything specific but I came across this 74 Jensen Interceptor !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . To my knowledge these things can go for quite a big amount. Not much information on the ad so I decided to text the guy but he’s a bit slow to respond but has sent me these pictures. Doesn’t seem like too bad of condition but hopefully I can get some more information about it from the guy. I also am currently at Ft.Bragg so my dad would be the one to purchase it from there in Houston until I got everything sorted out. Anybody know of anything I should be looking for as in problems or anything out of the ordinary?
EDIT: it sold a few hours ago. The owner was taking a while to reply due to negotiating with that buyer. Time to keep looking for the next project

Considering current prices of Interceptors, that’s really good. I may just be talking out of my butt though.

Not bad I suppose, don't know much about these cars but the steering wheel appears to be on the wrong side of the dash...

Now that is quite a find. If I were you I'd check out an Jensen Interceptor form somewhere on the Internet to look for specialized problems

Rust, rust, rust. Just look out for that. Otherwise, there is a little “brain box” on these cars that can fail, and depending on how long it’s been sitting you’re going to have to not only flush out the oil with new oil, but remove the whole engine so you can easily clean out all of the little cavities that the oil gets sent to the top of the motor with. Mine had been sitting for 25 years so it had basically turned to sludge. You’ll probably need to drop the gas tank (also dependant on how long it’s been sitting) and sometimes the power steering racks go on them as well. Nothing has been too much of a challenge so far, but I highly suggest that if it comes to the engine being pulled and you have the money, upgrade the carb, cam, heads, intake manifold, literally whatever you can do to help that poor emissions choked 440. It looks clean though from the pictures. If there’s no rust, I’d recommend you jump on it.

Sure they can, epic cars. And could you imagine how much money you’d have to put in this one to even get it decent: just look at that interior!
Awesome project. Gainful? Probably not. Certainly not when you consider the amount of time you’d put in it. Should you do it: of course, if you’re willing to invest in it (repaint/interior alone will set you back $15k easily)! Just don’t expect it to be profitable.

Interceptor’s an automatic NP no matter what.
-EDIT - Holy shit, only $5k? Save it. SAVE IT!

It needs saved, but rust and electrics would be the immediate painpoints.

I’ve heard that they require super-high octane gasoline.

Nothing automotive is gainful unless you put a value on fun.

Believe me: I know . I just read the above line and wanted to prevent someone from buying this thinking making the deal of a lifetime. There are projects with easier obtainable parts (other than engine/transmission) than a Jensen.

You’ll be sorrrrry....This is a land where things are not as they seem and before you realize there is no escape, you are trapped.....This, my friends, is the OPPO ZONE.
Welcome.

The ad is gone but whatever price it is if you have the money to restore it and it isn’t terrible buy it. They are beautiful and interesting cars.
